also, might i just mention how awesome tonight has been,
if not simply due to the fact that we have had constant thunderstorms for at least the past three or four hours.



we haven't had rain for so long down here, and the fact that we just keep getting badass severe storms that make the apartment shake and i can gawk at out my window is a very nice way for mother nature to make up for keeping them away for so long.

(although i do squeal once in a while when the lightning comes really close to the house and the thunder claps pretty loud. but no one's around to hear me so i guess it's okay.)

watching the lightning lightup the bit of cityscape (if you can call it that) that i see out my window is pretty impressive. nature's pretty freaking neat. i was talking to a friend today about my introductory meteorology course that i took this past semester here at the community college in town. i was relating to her how even in an intro course, i really learned a lot about how storms work - not just thunderstorms, but tornadoes and hail and hurricanes and blizzards and the rest.

while i've always been a bit of a weather geek, getting to geek out with your professor and learn what you're geeking out about is very enlightening. speaking of which, i think today's xkcd comic is applicable here. (xkcd is always applicable to anything, but anyway.)
