a weather report:

it is officially getting wicked cold up here in the mount washington valley. it's 21º and falling and it's not supposed to get much better over the next week. i'm much more of a fall and winter person than anything else, so i do enjoy it, but there's one thing about winter that i had forgotten i thoroughly despise: itchy wool sweaters.

tonight i was set to go out for a democratic party (pun intended) and i had recently purchased a very nice new black wool sweater from target. it didn't seem like it'd be that itchy, but sure enough, even with a tshirt on under it - itchtastic. then the itchy wool peacoat. i'm not allergic to wool or anything but it sure is irritating on several levels. it's not quite cold enough yet, though, to break out the big guns - this long puffy thing that my friend catherine and i purchased in maine recently. i've never owned a puffy coat. i have a feeling i'm going to look like the michelin man covered in mud. however, i've been told otherwise, so i'll have to just believe the critics.

even though winter brings itchy things, it's still significantly better than sweltering.
