so i think - nay, i'm pretty sure i do - fail at nablopomo. i was out of town last night and couldn't post. oh well. always next month? i'll continue to post as often as i can in order to maybe salvage some sort of honourable mention.

went to boston last night and visited with some friends. after the insane election week i've had, it was nice to get out of the house, and even the state. do you have a place that, whenever you go there, you feel familiar, and like it's home, even if you don't live there? that's how boston is to me. there's a reason i call it my favourite place on the planet. sure, it's dirty, the people are rude, the air smells funny sometimes, the weather is completely unpredictable, and the cost of living is astronomical, but there's so much about it i adore that it all seems to get cancelled out.

thankfully i still have a few friends living there, so i never really have to worry about a place to stay when i pop in. one of the best parts about the city is that there are so many people my age to meet. boston is a big city, it seems, for working professionals in their twenties and thirties that don't really either need or want to settle down, but just want to enjoy themselves while making some decent cash in the process. that, or they're college students - and i suppose that's the majority, as there's something like 20-30 colleges in the boston metro area (i don't know the exact figure, and don't care to take the time to wiki it). while they can be brash, obnoxious, and somewhat annoying, i used to be one of them too so i can't always hate.

i've travelled a bit and i would absolutely love to travel more. but i have a feeling that not just new england, but boston is a place i'll always love to come back to. it's been a love of mine since i was very young, visiting my aunt in her third floor apartment in the brownstones of the south end. the fact that i keep coming back tells me that it's the place i'll probably end up someday, and so far, i'm more than fine with that. but we'll see.
