i really need to learn how to manage my time better. i promise i'll start blogging a little earlier in the evening ... gotta start taking this seriously. it's tough to do when you're not used to writing consistently! then again, i was trying to break the habit, so be it.

i work at a radio station in southern new hampshire, and today i had my show like i do most sundays. nothing really out of the ordinary went on ... i got a lot more request calls than usual, which was a little odd. people were requesting some really out there music. sometimes i wonder if people remember that the station is branded as a hit country station ... i got asked for everything from billy ray cyrus to jethro tull (not kidding). oh well, what can you do.

one thing i like about radio is the people that i get to talk to. some weekends i have to do giveaways and i get to talk to all different sorts of people that win the prizes. today i spoke with a woman that's going to st. john for a getaway. yesterday i spoke with someone who had a birthday on halloween. everyone's got a story, which i really enjoy, because it's almost like i'm getting to know a part of them even if i'll probably never hear from them again. and the fact that i can (hopefully) help to make their day by giving them free stuff makes my day a little brighter.

community is important to me. coming from a small town, i really try to appreciate the importance of knowing your neighbours and doing what you can to help others. there's that phrase you often hear, "it takes a village to raise a child." while i'm certainly not planning on having children anytime soon, i think that radio allows me to do my part in the proverbial village. everyone contributes in some way, shape, or form - or at least we like to hope they do. hopefully, if i can help someone by playing a request they enjoy, or listening to someone who's having a bad day, or give them a bit of a boost, i feel i'm doing my part.
