it's sad when you have to break your posts into two

birthday went well; worked in the morning and got pleasantly surprised by my regulars and coworkers. helped a good friend escape an unruly neighbour's barbeque. went to IHOP with seth and completely overloaded on eggs, hash browns and washington apple crisp pancakes. sadly, an image of them exists nowhere on the internet. (however, from an IHOP press release, they are described as "Two fluffy buttermilk pancakes crowned with warm apple compote, crisp cinnamon streusel and creamy whipped topping.") went to borders and rifled through leftist political science and erotica. went home and watched ALF and boston red sox highlights. cursed at manny. no complaints.

so today i was awesome and took three excedrin. keep in mind that i'm insanely sensitive to caffeine and i really can't drink or ingest much of it before i physically flip out. i didn't realize that each one was inundated with 65 mg of caffeine! ack. i'm still wide awake and bouncy and jittery ... ten hours later. gah. note to self, and you: don't take excedrin if you have a caffeine sensitivity or anxiety ... bad news bears.

the moving process isn't ... moving along all that well. i've acknowledged that i have now six days to get all my crap out of here in one way or another. the original moving plan is no longer feasible; it looks like i will be making several trips back here to get my stuff. thankfully i have a few places to store whatever i can't stuff on or in my trusty station wagon. a lot of what i have here isn't coming back with me, as i'm moving back into a room about half the size of the bedroom i'm in now, and most of the communal furniture doesn't belong to me. plus, some of this stuff i really don't want or need, so it's either going on the curb or to other friends who need it more than me. i guess it's as good a time as any to clean things out and start anew.

lots of lasts are coming up in the next few days. my last shift at starbucks probably ever; my last day as the cohost of the taste of chaos; my last few days as a connecticut resident (at least for the time being, who knows if i'll ever come back); my last night in my problem-riddled, indebted apartment; hopefully my last day of being in ridiculous debt to the world. and at the end, i guess monday's going to be a day of firsts too ... hopefully the first day of the last time i will ever move home, the first day of the last attempt i will ever make at a bachelors', and the first day of rebuilding my life. it sounds dramatic and all that, but i suppose if i don't put limitations on myself in this way, i'll just drift around for god knows how long trying to figure myself out. seriously, it's time to get over it.

may this be the beginning of the last of this ridiculous quarter-life crisis i've been going through. i don't even know if i can call it that. i'm not even at quarter-life yet. augh. good riddance.
