this is just awful.



i live about fifteen minutes southwest of hartford, connecticut. i've always heard that the city had a high crime rate, and since i've moved here i've heard that people there are pretty ruthless. my own roommate was mugged at a club one night recently. the ex-mayor of the city was mugged in broad daylight the other day. but for people to hit and run a 70-something year old man and then have people drive around him and leave him there? or have plenty of people sitting on the sidewalk just watching him die? absolutely despicable. you'll find jerks in every city, but this place just gets more and more disgusting the more i hear about it.

also, something that's not awful, but makes me sad ...



say it ain't so, john. my favourite presidential candidate, john edwards, said today he wouldn't accept a vice presidential position in barack obama's campaign. sigh. (as we remember, john dropped out of the race with only a few delegates several months ago. he's been biding his time ever since on the veep issue.) i know he already ran once in 2004 ... and didn't do so well ... and it's probably for the better because of his wife, elizabeth's condition. (she's suffering from stage four breast cancer.) still ... it's a bit of a bummer.
